Dr Karina Merchant

Dr Karina Merchant is a GP Registrar who has recently completed her hospital training at Gold Coast University Hospital, gaining broad experience across multiple medical and surgical specialties over the past three years. She has developed a passion for women’s health, paediatrics, mental health, and palliative care, and enjoys providing holistic, compassionate care for patients of all ages.

Karina studied medicine at Bond University and has a strong passion for medical education, returning to the university as a medical tutor to support and teach the next generation of doctors. She believes in creating a welcoming and safe space where patients feel heard, understood, and involved in decisions about their health.

Karina takes a patient-centred approach, focusing on building long-term relationships and helping patients navigate their health journeys with empathy and evidence-based care.

Outside of medicine, Karina enjoys spending time with her husband and golden retriever, going on walks, practising Pilates, and (her favourite weekend ritual) getting cosy with a good binge-worthy TV series.
